Den Anfang machen die Amerikaner WEREGOAT aus Portland, die bereits seit 2009 infernalen Lärm in die Welt tragen und mit solch tragenden Titel wie „Slave Bitch Of The Black Ram Master“ (2013) oder „Pestilential Rites Of Infernal Fornication“ (2017) für Aufmerksamkeit sorgen. Drummer Sadoseducer war bereit, mit uns über den Auftritt beim Never Surrender Festival 2020 zu quatschen.

Hey Tim und vielen Dank, dass du dir die Zeit nimmst, um meine Fragen zu beantworten. Kommenden November werdet ihr zum ersten Mal in Europa einfallen und mit WEREGOAT einen Gig zocken. Was erwartet ihr euch von den Fans in Berlin und was können sich die Fans von einer WEREGOAT-Show erhoffen?

Ja, das wird das erste Mal sein, dass WEREGOATs Hufe über europäischen Boden marschieren und Europa sollte nichts anderes erwarten, als eine archaische und von Hass getriebene Wut des teutonischen Chaos. Was wir von Euch erwarten? Drogen und Alkohol mitzubringen und wenn wir Euch Blut schmecken lassen, dann solltet Ihr bereit sein, Euren tierischen Instinkten blind zu folgen.

Ich habe mir kürzlich Videomaterial von eurem Gig in Mexico City angeschaut, welchen ihr Anfang 2019 gespielt habt – das ist kein Bullshit, da wird nur echter Metal und Brutalität ausgelebt. Wie oft trefft ihr euch und probt? Wie stellt ihr sicher, dass ihr an den jeweiligen Abenden eine tighte Performance abliefern könnt?

Wir versprechen nur Chaos und Gewalt. Proben finden dann statt, wenn sie notwendig sind, aber wir puschen uns sowieso immer mit den anderen Extreme-Metal-Bands, in welche wir involviert sind.

Ich hatte kürzlich ein paar Diskussionen mit verschiedenen Metal-Bands, die darüber gejammert haben, dass die Stageshows immer wichtiger werden (bezüglich Licht, den Kostümen und so weiter) und dass dieser Trend wohl damit zusammenhängt, dass die Bands immer untalentierter werden. Anders gesagt: je mehr Show man findet, desto weniger Qualität lässt sich bei den Bands finden. Was ist diesbezüglich eure Position? Wie wichtig ist die „Show“ für WEREGOAT?

Es könnte uns nicht egaler sein, was irgendjemand denkt. Wenn du es nicht magst, dann verpiss dich! WEREGOAT existiert nur für uns und die Band ist eine Reflektion unserer Einflüsse. Scheiß auf Talent, wir wollen einfach geil aussehen.

Gibt es ein Ritual oder eine Tradition, die ihr auslebt, bevor ihr auf die Bühne stürmt und die Hölle entfacht?

Drogen, Alkohol und mit den Maniacs abhängen, die wir an den jeweiligen Orten kennenlernen.

Wenn eure Fans etwas auf die Bühne werfen, um ihre Liebe zu WEREGOAT zum Ausdruck zu bringen, was würde euch da am meisten freuen?

Ein abgeschnittener Kopf, Speed, Kokain und zu guter Letzt einen Nippelgürtel.



Euer letztes Album „Pestilential Rites Of Infernal Fornication“ ist bereits zweieinhalb Jahre alt. Könnt ihr uns etwas über eine kommende Veröffentlichung erzählen? Seid ihr bereits dabei, neues Material aufzunehmen? Und wird es im November 2020 schon etwas Neues geben?

Wir arbeiten gerade momentan an neuen Songs. Man darf sich tatsächlich darüber freuen, dass es pünktlich zum Never Surrender eine neue Veröffentlichung namens „The Devil’s Lust“ geben wird, die via Iron Bonehead/Parasitic erscheinen wird.

Bleiben wir doch kurz dabei: Wie funktioniert das Komponieren in WEREGOAT? Trefft ihr euch tatsächlich zum Proben und um verschiedene Ideen für Riffs und Arrangements zu besprechen? Oder arbeitet jeder einfach für sich selbst und ihr schickt euch via Cloud-Anbieter das Material zu, et cetera?

Alles entsteht aus dem Feuer einer musikalischen Live-Probe, dann wird es möglich, dass die Komposition noch eine genauere Form annimmt, ganz egal, was es dafür braucht.

Abgesehen von der Brutalität eurer Musik und den blasphemischen Untertönen eurer Musik und eurer Lyrics spielen der Aspekt der Sexualität und die männliche Dominanz über Frauen eine signifikante Rolle in eurer Kunst. Könnt ihr uns darüber mehr erzählen? Warum ist diese Symbolik für euch so wichtig? Und warum ist gerade Analverkehr für euch so wichtig? Hängt das mit Crowleys Lieblingsposition zusammen?

Das Leben ist am Arsch, und gefickt zu werden, bedeutet zu leben. Man muss bereit zum Ficken sein. Analsex hat mit Blasphemie zu tun und ist eine gute Möglichkeit, um Euch Pfeifen davon abzuhalten, Euch zu vermehren. Aber bald werden wir uns weiterentwickeln und andere Löcher finden, die wir penetrieren und über die wir schreiben können.

Between the 5th and the 7th of November, the German capital Berlin will be hit by the third edition of the Never Surrender Festival. Since we from the Legacy mag will be represented by our editor Jonathan, we want to present you a small special for this festival. We are currently trying to make an interview possible with each band which is playing at the Never Surrender Festival so that you have an idea who and what is going to hit you.

We start the party with the American metalheads WEREGOAT which are hailing from Portland and spreading poison and noise since 2009. Titles like “Slave Bitch Of The Black Ram Master” (2013) or “Pestilential Rites Of Infernal Fornication” (2017) will, no doubt, put a grin onto the faces of the metal hordes. Drum machine Sadoseducer was willing to talk with us about their performance on the Never Surrender Festival in November.


Good evening WEREGOAT and many thanks for taking the time to answer my questions: Coming November you will for the first time set foot on European soil as the entity WEREGOAT. What do you expect from the fans in Berlin and what can the fans expect from a WEREGOAT show?

Yes, this will be the first time the cloven hoof of WEREGOAT marches upon European soil and they should expect nothing less than a primal, hate filled frenzy of Teutonic chaos. What do we expect from them? To bring us drugs and booze and when we give them the taste of blood, they should blindly follow their primal instincts.

I just saw the footage from your gig in Mexico City in early 2019 – no bullshit, just pure fucking tight metal and brutality. How often do you guys meet and rehearse? How do you make sure that you will be able to deliver a tight performance on the nights you play your gigs?

We ensure only chaos and violence. Rehearsals take place when necessary, but we are always pushing ourselves with the other extreme bands we are involved in.

I have recently had some discussion with different metal musicians who were moaning that the stage shows become more and more important (light shows, dramatic costumes, Andyso on) and that this would perhaps be done in order to mask the lack of talent of bands. Differently spoken: the more show, the less quality of the art. What is your position on this? How important is a stage “show” for WEREGOAT?

We could not care less what anybody else things, don’t like it? Fuck off! WEREGOAT only exists for us and is a pure reflection of our influences. Fuck talent, we just want to look good.

Do you have something like a ritual or a tradition before entering the stage and raising hell? Do you do something together as a band?

Drugs, booze and hanging out with all the maniacs wherever we are playing.

Last question concerning your live-shows: if your fans should throw something on the stage in order to show their affection for WEREGOAT, what would you like to receive the most? What would you bring you most joy?

A severed head, speed, cocaine, and last but not least, a nipple belt.



Your last album “Pestilential Rites Of Infernal Fornication” is already 2,5 years old. Can you tell us something about a new release in the future? Are you already in the process of recording new material for a coming release? And will something be ready for November 2020?

We are working on new songs as we speak. Expect a new recording to manifest at Never Surrender via Iron Bonehead and Parasitic entitled “The Devil’s Lust”.

Let’s shortly stay with that topic: how does the song writing process work in WEREGOAT? Do you actually meet to jam and discuss different ideas for riffs and arrangements? Or does everyone work for himself and you send ideas back and forth via Cloud services, et cetera?

Everything originates from a live sonic trial by fire then it can take shape through whatever necessary means afterwards.

Apart from the brutality of the music and the obvious blasphemous overtones of the music and the lyrics, the aspect of sexuality and especially the masculine domination of women play a significant role in your art. Can you tell us more about that? Why are those symbols so important to you? And why is anal sex a recurring theme – does it have to do with some of the teachings of Aleister Crowley who – as we know – preferred anal sex with women over vaginal intercourse?

Life is fucked, fucked is life. Ready to fucky. Anal fuck is blasphemy and a good way to keep you retards from breeding. Soon we move onto the theme of titty fucking, mouth fucky, many other holes to penetrate and to write songs about.
