Hallo Kimmo und vielen Dank für das Interview! Euer letztes Album ist bereits 16 Jahre alt, und die letzte MCD ist vor fünf Jahren erschienen. Könntest du uns erzählen, was die letzten Jahren in der Band passiert ist, sodass jetzt auf einmal ein neues DIABLERIE-Album ansteht?
Kimmo: Hi und danke für das Interview! Ja, unser Debüt kam vor langer Zeit raus, nicht wahr? DIABLERIE ist für uns so ein ewiges Projekt. Wir waren in letzter Zeit einfach mit allen anderen Bands, in denen DIABLERIE-Mitglieder unterwegs sind, beschäftigt. Deshalb haben wir DIABLERIE vielleicht nicht die Zeit und die Leidenschaft zukommen lassen, die die Band verdient hätte. Unsere Leidenschaft für extreme und elektronische Musik war aber immer da, deshalb haben wir zwar langsamer, aber doch kontinuierlich weitergemacht. Der wichtigste Faktor war aber wohl, dass Henri – unser Sänger und Hauptkomponist – irgendwann einfach entschieden hat, dass DIABLERIE wieder leben soll. Er hat viele Stunden investiert und dem Album mit einem Kraftakt Leben eingehaucht.
Euer neues Album heißt „The Catalyst Vol. 1: Control“. Das legt nahe, dass es noch weitere Alben geben wird. Stimmt das? Und gibt es ein größeres Konzept, das ihr auf dieser und weiterer Scheiben verfolgen werdet?
Kimmo: Ja, das stimmt! Das Album ist das erste einer Trilogie, aber die Idee dahinter muss noch für eine Weile ein Geheimnis bleiben. Die Story wird klarer werden, wenn die zweite Scheibe draußen ist. Ich hoffe, dass die Fans dann die Idee aufnehmen und verstehen werden, um was es beim dritten Album gehen wird. Ein großer Teil der Musik ist bereits komponiert, insofern werden die folgenden Alben etwas schneller erscheinen als man das sonst von uns gewohnt ist.
Was darf man musikalisch von der neuen Scheibe erwarten? Werden Fans den typischen Sound erkennen oder begebt ihr euch auf einen völlig neuen Pfad?
Kimmo: Ich denke, der Stil ist dem auf „Transition 2.0“ relativ ähnlich. Natürlich hat sich die Musik entwickelt, und ich glaube, dass das Album aggressiver ist als unsere früheren Sachen. Die einzelnen Songs sind auch abwechslungsreich, das heißt, man hört viele extreme Pole – von Death Metal über Black Metal zu Electronic und Ambient. Grundsätzlich haben wir aber einen metallischen Sound und wollen diesem nur eine gewisse Epik verleihen. In diesem Sinne haben wir uns von unserem frühen Material ziemlich entfernt. Gleichzeitig sind aber verschiedene Elemente immer noch vorhanden. Was die Produktion angeht, so haben wir dieses Mal die beste, die wir jemals hergebracht haben. Wir sind wirklich sehr zufrieden mit der Qualität der Produktion.
Sieht man Euch nächstes Jahr auf den Bühnen in Deutschland, der Schweiz und/oder Österreich?
Kimmo: Ich hoffe wirklich sehr, dass wir das hinkriegen, aber wir haben derzeit noch keine solche Show arrangiert. Wenn Ihr das lest und Shows mit ähnlichen Bands bucht, dann schreibt uns einfach und wir finden schon einen Weg.

Good day and best greetings! Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions! Let’s get right to it: Your last album was released nearly 16 years ago and your last MCD five years ago. Could you give us a little update about what happened in the last years in the band so that we will very soon be able to hear a new DIABLERIE-album?
Kimmo: Hi and thanks for having us! Yeah it's been a while since the debut, hasn't it? DIABLERIE has been for us a bit of an eternity project really. We've been pretty busy with all of the other bands that DIABLERIE members are participating in so that the band hasn't prehaps been given the time and effort it deserves. Our passion for extreme music and all the electronic stuff has always been there though, so we've slowly kept on going. I guess one major factor was Henri - our vocalist and main composer - deciding at some point that for better or worse, DIABLERIE is happening. He really put in the hours and basically forced the album into existence.
Your new album carries the name “The Catalyst Vol. 1: Control” which suggests that further albums are planned. Is that correct? And is there a concept present on the album which will continue on coming releases?
Kimmo: Yes, that's true! The album is the first one of a trilogy, but the idea behind it will have to remain a secret for a while still. It will become more clear on the second album after which I'm hoping our fans will pick up on the idea and already guess what the third one will be like, before it even comes out. A lot of that music has already been made, so we will have a faster publishing rate on the next albums than what people might be used to.
What can we expect musically from the coming album? Will fans recognise the sound from previous releases or are you entering a completely new path?
Kimmo: I think the musical style is pretty much the same as on "Transition 2.0". Of course the music has evolved a bit once again and I guess the album is a bit more aggressive than the earlier stuff. The tracks are quite diverse still, so there are many different extremes from death metal via black metal to electronic and ambient. The overall sound is still metal though with a hint of epicness. We're in a sense kind of far from the early material while at the same time the elements are still there. The overall production is the best we've done so far, and we're all really pleased at how it turned out qualitywise.
Last questions: Will we be able to see you play live next year in Germany, Switzerland or Austria?
Kimmo: I sincerely hope we can make that happen, but at this time we haven't arranged those shows yet. If you're reading this and booking shows with like minded bands, just drop us a line and we'll figure something out.
